Another Training Success

Monday, November 24th, 2008

On Friday 21st November, all of our new Carers enjoyed a very practical and informative training session with Caremore Services of Redcar. They took our Carers through everything there is to know about COSHH (Caution Of Substances Hazardous to Health), where our Carers learnt about the dangers of the different substances that they use, not only around Clients homes, but at their own homes as well. They learnt about the importance of labeling all substances, and the correct protective clothing and equipment to use when handling these substances. After a very informative discussion about COSHH, Dave, the trainer, then moved on to Manual Handling training with the Carers, which was a lot more practical exercise. The Carers learnt about all the different types of hoists, belts and other handling equipment they may come across in a Clients home. The Carers were full of excellent questions and queries for Dave, which he was more than happy to answer, by demonstrating the correct procedures using our in-office hoist. Carers were hoisted themselves so they could see which methods were most comfortable for the Clients. Dave then moved on to the correct way to use a slide sheet, which many of the new Carers hadn’t come across before, but after a few demonstrations they had no problems operating the slide sheet with ease. It was a very productive training session, which all the Carers benefited from, Mandy would like to thank Dave and Caremore Services for an excellent day, enabling our Clients to receive the quality care that they deserve.
